No Wonder We're at War

War isn't a last resort anymore, it's the first resort. Now that we have invented "pre-emptive strikes", and now that not being told to stop by the international community constitutes permission to continue fighting, and since war benefits Governments and companies, why should peace ever occur?

Our Govt IS doing something about Israel

Yes - they are helping America supply them weapons! Yes, you read that right; whilst one one hand we are (feebly) calling for restraint (etc etc), America is flying laser-guided bombs to Israel, using Scottish airports.

No wonder we're more at risk from terrorists than ever. We've Tony Blair to thank for any more July 7th's.

The Summer Holidays...

And you think 6 weeks is a long time? So do most people - except MP's. They get 76 days holiday. The kids will be back to school long before our MP's are.

The War on Terror in Britain Continues...

..despite the fact that the substance the supposed terrorists were supposedly looking at buying doesn't even exist.

Oh, no surprise then that it was all another entrapment operation by the News of the World, who have wasted the police's time again, but no doubt sold a lot of papers in the process.

Whilst we're on the subject, has anyone in Britain (or anywhere) actually been prosecuted for being a bona-fide terrorist?

That's what's great about working for the government

You can cock up to the tune of £600,000, and not lose your job! In fact, nobody even bothers to find out who cocked up, so your even safer! This wouldn't happen in the private sector. You probably wouldn't have to sack them - they'd have gone bust anyway. But thanks to the generous taxpayer, no-one in Government cares.

It's not the first time this has happened, but I suppose that's what you get if no-one does anything about it.

Just send us the invoice!

The UN has launched a $150m (£81m) aid appeal for strife-torn Lebanon. So Israel bombs Lebannon to destruction, and the UN asks us to pay for it?

Our Powerful Leader

Look how Blair controls the world! What a statesman! (That transcription in full).

Summary:

Blair: Can I go the Middle East?

Bush: No.

Blair: What are we going to do about climate change?

Bush: Shut up.

Blair: Mr Putin, what are you going to do about corruption in Russia?

Putin: People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Shut up.

Hopeless Chance of "Victory"

Israel trying to destroy Hizbullah is like, I dunno, America trying to destroy Al-Quida. Of course it will only take a week!

Church school bans Lennon classic

Can anyone name me a single problem in the world that has not got a religous connection? Religion seems to survive by the facist control of anything that disagrees with it (and believe it or not I'm not talking about Muslims) Christianity is just as bad:

A church school in Devon has withdrawn John Lennon's Imagine from an end-of-term show after teachers ruled that its lyrics were anti-religious.

Rev David Harris said: "The song expresses longing for a different world and for eternal happiness but it says you can have this without religion."

Proof that you can't have happiness without religion. Or world peace of course. If ever I meet a Christian fundemanetalist, I always want to ask them "so, assuming Adam and Eve existed, does that mean their children had sex with one another?" And "so where do dinosaurs fit into the bible?"

Poor Lord Levy

It's fair enough if he was poor or didn't have a job, but why should someone as important as him be arrested? He's a friend of Tony Blair after all. The law is supposed to only apply to peasants who live on council estates, or eyesore like Brian Haw who just get in the way (Brian obviously deserved 20+ police officers descending on him in the middle of the night), not someone who is so obviously important has he is Lord. No doubt he's done great things for the country to earn such a title (answers on a postcard).

On a more serious note, is there any more blatant example of how the government and it's cronies think they are far more important than the average UK citizen? It's like they actually want to be unpopular. Does he seriously think he will garner any sympathy?

Lord Levy Arrested

Couldn't they just have pinned him to the ground and shot him in the head? After all, he is a legitimate threat to democracy.

Israeli Double-Standards

Despite the fact they dropped a bomb on a house killing 7 children in the last few days, as soon as Lebanon captures two Israeli soldiers, they label it "and act of war". Maybe that's how suicide bombers feel - as rightious as the Israeli government.

Swearing costs £80 (even if it's a private conversation)

BBC and The Reg (seperate incidents). Watch your language!

Government Secrecy...

..Is a joke. Mere days after Joh Reid unveiled plans to tighten secrecy laws, a file on UK anti-terror operations was stolen from a major's locked car at a Surrey supermarket on 22 May.

But don't worry, "no security protocol had been broken".

Even a 5 year-old could come up with a security protocol that said "do not leave secret documents in unsafe places".

Israeli Terrorism

What Israel is doing is nothing short of terrorism.

"It is not legitimate to cut off 750,000 people from electricity. It is not legitimate to call on 20,000 people to run from their homes and turn their towns into ghost towns. It is not legitimate to penetrate Syria's airspace. It is not legitimate to kidnap half a government and a quarter of a parliament."

A state that takes such steps is no longer distinguishable from a terror organization."

And after all that, as soon as the Palestinians return some rocket fire, the Israeli's use it as an excuse to invade them (again).

The Extradition Juggling Act

There is nothing wrong with the new law - just because Tony Blair feels it neccessary to step in and help. I'm sure the Prime Minister would help anyone else being extradited to America using laws designed to detain terrorists

Closing the door after the horse has bolted

More Labour sleaze... So Prescott has finally decided to declare his stay at the ranch of someone bidding for the supercasino licence.

The deputy prime minister had said he was on official business, so had not needed to declare it in the register. Er, isn't it the problem: that he's accepting gifts whilst on official business?

But declaring it now is pointless, cos we all know about it. The whole idea is for MP's to declare it immediately so it doesn't require an invetigation by journalists to find out the truth!

Guantanamo Quote

"What the court is doing is attempting to suppress creative thinking,"

JOHN C. YOO, a principal architect of the Bush administration's legal response to the terrorist threat, on the Supreme Court's decision that military tribunals were illegal.

Yes! We need more creative thinking like "imprisoning innocent people until they go mad".

Secrecy From Our Servents

What do you do if you're a government and you make lots of embarrasing mistakes? Try to do better next time? Sack the people making the mistakes? No, you plan for tougher secrecy laws to stop the mistakes being found out!
