You can cock up to the tune of £600,000, and not lose your job! In fact, nobody even bothers to find out who cocked up, so your even safer! This wouldn't happen in the private sector. You probably wouldn't have to sack them - they'd have gone bust anyway. But thanks to the generous taxpayer, no-one in Government cares.

It's not the first time this has happened, but I suppose that's what you get if no-one does anything about it.
