Christianity is an insult to Common Sense

HOW OLD IS THE GRAND CANYON? PARK SERVICE WON’T SAY?

[Edit 21/1/06 - In the interests of fairness, there is another side to this story here. Make your own mind up whether it is true or not]

Washington, DC — Despite promising a prompt review of its approval for a book claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's flood rather than by geologic forces, more than three years later no review has ever been done and the book remains on sale at the park, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).

"In order to avoid offending religious fundamentalists, our National Park Service is under orders to suspend its belief in geology"

Can they be serious? Does anyone believe that Noah existed and managed to fit two of every animal in the world onto a boat? Come on.

Comments:
I welcome your comment, anon, but can you back up your facts?

Once the insults come out Steve, the argument has already been lost. Anon knows only too well that there is plenty of evidence of the encroachments of the Christian fundamentalist lobby on national life (both in the US and UK). The problem is that his ilk are not interested in religious extremism unless the perpetrators are something other than white.

Will this help?

Thanks go to Longrider for doing what "anon" (who obviously quite rightly wanted to remain "anon") should have done, and providing some backup to a point of view, and not resorted to personal insults.

So we now have two points of view, and it comes back to the age-old problem of what to believe on the Internet. Both sources look pretty credible. So, in the interests of this blogs' reputation (if it has one) of sticking to the facts, I'll edit the post and add links to both points of view.

I still stand by the headline though.

Is that you, George?
